Pleasant Hills Academy Offers…
-
Sensory Diets
We understand the importance of listening to each child’s unique sensory needs. Sometimes little bodies need big movement before their brains are ready to take in new information. Sometimes less is much more. Quiet rooms, therapy swings, heavy work, and more are incorporated into our daily schedules. Classroom accommodations like wobble chairs, kick bands, balance boards, headphones with music, etc. are all considered when we work to create the best toolbox for each child.
-
GAC Accreditation with Quality
Pleasant Hills Montessori School is fully accredited, with quality, by the Georgia Accreditation Commission. In 2024 we were chosen to help write the standards for “mixed model classrooms” for the whole state of Georgia, due to a long history of exceptional quality and expertise in the area. Pleasant Hills Montessori School will be the first ever GA school holding the “mixed model” title. Pleasant Hills Academy has been provisionally accredited as an Educational Agency with Special Purposes.

Visual Supports
We provide several visual resources for our neurodiverse learners. These tools allow our students to learn about routine, responsibilities, accountability, and accomplishment, all while communicating effectively. We utilize various formats to meet individual needs and strive to improve communication, building confidence and understanding in the learning environment.
-
Collaboration with Medical Services
We believe a collaborative care team is the most effective way to accelerate a child’s progress in all areas of development, whether it’s academic, social, or emotional. Communicating with medical providers can ensure all aspects of care are being considered and met across all environments.
-
Inclusive Classrooms
We are proud to offer both specialized instruction and inclusive options for our learners. A hallmark of Montessori education is environments of students with varying ages. This allows for enhanced social-emotional development through collaborative learning and peer to peer mentoring. We observe stronger connections with the community, increased social awareness and a strong sense of belonging in our school. Being an individual is celebrated and encouraged from peers and teachers alike.

Recipients of GA Special Needs Scholarship Program
Pleasant Hills is a recipient of this scholarships program designed to provide private education options to families with special education needs. If your child is currently receiving an IEP or 504 plan you may qualify for reduced tuition through this program.
-
Practical Life Skills
Academics isn’t everything your child needs to succeed in life. Independence in self care and maintaining their environment is equally important. Luckily this is a hallmark of Montessori classrooms. An early understanding of these skills readies them for “the real world” much sooner than their peers.
-
Small Groups vs. Large Classes
Our smaller student to teacher ratios allow us to provide more one on one and small group lessons. This improves student attendance during the lesson and increases our awareness as instructors regarding comprehension and retention.
Meet Tara
“While I loved teaching Elementary Montessori for many years, I became deeply passionate about the idea of helping students with learning differences find their maximum potential in a Montessori classroom. In an effort to find solutions for our students I began creating connections with the incredible professionals in our community. After watching how the collaboration between a care team can lead to expedited success, across all environments, I was hooked. My desire to provide this level of individualized care to our entire student body has become my life mission.
As a mother of a child with learning differences and special needs I personally know the challenges of seeking answers, advocating, and the endless work to support their wellbeing. I wish to share what I have learned both with you, and your child. I hope my shoulders can hold your family higher. You child’s experience in school should leave them with a love for learning that is lifelong and memories they smile on.
My mentor and director, Angela McClure gifted me with her expertise, time, and continued dedication to our student body. Together we have established this non-profit entity of Pleasant Hills Montessori to ensure we provide every child with the best resources in our community.”
